Bengal CM’s mistake puts pressure on successful IPS officers
The case registered in the Park Street incident in Kolkata has been solved by the truly professional IPS officers and their esteemed team of detectives in the Kolkata Police. But in the society its hardly a happy occasion. And it is because of one mistake done by the first female Chief Minister of West Bengal, Ms. Mamata Banerjee.
In short, when the investigation to a case was not even complete, Mamata Banerjee rushed in a hurry and issued her statement in front of press that the
incident was a politically motivated conspiracy put together by opposition party & news media in order to malign her government’s image in public’s view.
Now, that’s a big mistake from the administrator of a state in the largest democracy in the world. CM is not God who knows everything, she wasn’t even present in the crime scene - then how did she ever dare to issue such a statement when investigations were still on at that time and real facts were still to come out?
Simply by winning an election and getting majority of people’s mandate doesn’t empower anybody to do something wrong. By doing that wrongful deed, a female CM insulted another female who is the victim in this sensitive case of rape.
And, as per Supreme Court’s verdict, nobody else other than the court itself, can decide what’s right or wrong in a rape case. CM, holding a constitutional chair, has also violated SC directive.
Worsening the situation further, when Kolkata Police cracked the case and news media began praising the IPS Officers, the erring CM turned furious instead of coming out and issuing another statement of apology for the mistake she did.
However, its not new when politicians commit errors and then simply hide their faces and try to draw public attention into something else. That’s how they save their pride. But clearly, public didn’t expect this from Mamata. It has hurt her followers and overjoyed her opposition.
Lastly, Mamata called in all the IPS officers and conducted a meeting, coming out of it, the two Joint Commissioners of Police, Damayanti Sen & Jawed Shamim both had to say something else, their faces clearly showing the pressure they’ve been put into, despite successfully solving a critical case.
